These days, I relate to the brother more than the sister, although I have my moments too. “No, I must continue my fricking studies! What the b!itch!”

Sigh. I needed another week of break.

Funny how moving the view from your desk can change your view about everything else.

I’m determined to make the most of this year. Maybe I won’t get as much as I put into it, but I’m still going to do everything I can. I don’t want to begin 2013 with regrets about 2012, and I don’t want to feel like I’m not a better person. I want to grow each year. Grow in wisdom. Grow in confidence. Grow in honesty and forbearance. I am grateful for all I’ve been given, but that’s not enough.

What do you most want out of 2012? What part of yourself do you plan to improve?

I do apologize for my absence, but I’m not about to promise it won’t happen again. I’d like to think it won’t, but we’ll see how I behave WordPress-wise.

Since I last posted, I’ve continued work and school. I love some of the things I’m studying, some are tedious, and my job has its good points and bad points. I’d go into more details, but I can’t. That’s the biggest reason why this blog fell apart. I usually post when I have a lot on my mind, when I have stresses or joys that I want to share with you. When I can’t do that without risking my job, I get writer’s block. Not that I haven’t been writing, I just haven’t been writing here or anywhere about work.

I also haven’t read for fun as much as I would like, but recently I’ve been reading a book by Dr. Sax called “Girls on the Edge.” It’s about the struggles modern girls face due to cyber-bullying, environmental toxins, and society’s push for girls to develop a sexual identity earlier in life.  His insights explained some of the things I went through in high school, particularly why high school girls lash out at each other in more passive-aggressive ways than boys do. It’s a great read, and regardless of your politcal sway, you’ll find it fascinating.

The bits about toxins in sodas and processed foods scared me. Makes me want to give up on my buddy Diet Dr. Pepper. Hmm…

What say you? How have you been?

The steam coming off the roads coupled with the rain to blur much of what you could see, and the water pools made the stoplights seem brighter than normal. Driving conditions have steadily been this hydroplane-risky because the downpours have been more than the ground can soak up. (Not so great for going outside, but great for cocoa and cuddling!)
